Angels Cove Dive Site in Davao - Philippines
If were on the northwest side of Talicud Island (which is southwest of the larger Samal Island) well surely come across the Angels Cove Dive Site. It is every divers heaven down in the deep azure seas of Davao Gulf. What Angels Cove Dive Site has to show us is stunning, to say the least.
On the surface, the pristine waters around the site are generally tame with sporadic flows of strong currents. The same with its deep sea. Angels Cove Dive Site is an easy and pleasant dive experience that begins to show remarkable sights at a depth of 20 meters. A simple snorkeling can derive so much fun and amazing sights. But always have an expert diver at hand.
Its a mere 1 hour and 45 minutes travel from Talicud Island and a neighbor of Mansud Wall and Dapia dive site. Angels Cove Dive Site is among the community of dive spots scattered around the north and western side of Talicud. Included are Dapia, Babu Santa or Mansud Wall, and Coral Garden. These are world-class dive places, and so are those scattered around the adjoining and bigger island of Samal; like the Sementeryo, Dela Paz Corner, Marissa, and San Jose all near Angels Cove Dive Site.
The adjoining dive spots are somewhat similar to Angels Cove Dive Site, especially with the hard and soft coral composition and the sandy bottom. As we roam around it we find that the usual depth is 20 meters where we see big fish types now and then. If want to see more of them along with mackerels, tunas, and jack fish in huge sizes, we go down 40 to 50 meters. But expert divers only allow advanced divers to go with them in such depth of Angels Cove Dive Site.
In the shallow waters we can already enjoy watching hard corals covering mounds. More so as we approach the nearby Mansud Wall. Its just northeast of Angels Cove Dive Site. When we see a steep slope, were just about 10 meters from Mansud Wall. This area where Angels Cove Dive Site and Mansud meet reveals gorgonians, whip corals, soft aorals, and large sponges. There are also a number of razor fish, sea snakes, lion fish, juvenile sweet-lips, and other reef fish.
Angels Cove Dive Site is sometimes visited by sharks, turtle and dugongs. It is an amazing place to see when snorkeling or diving at Talicud Island. The sights get more interesting as we dive further down from 15 to 20 meters.
